Joint Task Force Sports, Inc. is committed to providing veterans, service members, family members, donors, volunteers, and members of the public with meaningful and equitable access to our website, communications, programs, events, and services.

Our mission is:

“Strengthening the mental and physical health of veterans, service members, and their families through peer-based therapeutic recreation, outdoor programming, and team-based activities.”

Disability should not prevent a member of our community from learning about our mission, requesting information, applying for a program, making a donation, volunteering, or participating in an activity when a reasonable and safe accommodation can be provided.

1. Scope

This policy applies to:

• The JTF Sports website and online forms.

• Electronic documents and digital communications.

• Program applications and registration processes.

• JTF Sports-operated events and activities.

• Volunteer and employment processes.

• Facilities, equipment, and services controlled by JTF Sports.

• Requests for reasonable modifications and communication assistance.

Third-party venues, ticketing systems, payment platforms, websites, and partner-operated programs may maintain their own accessibility practices. JTF Sports will make reasonable efforts to select accessible services and coordinate accessibility needs with its partners.

2. Interactive Process

JTF Sports will work in good faith with the person requesting an accommodation to identify an effective and reasonable solution.

The accommodation requested by an individual will receive primary consideration, but JTF Sports may offer another effective accommodation when the original request:

• Would fundamentally alter the nature of the program or activity.

• Would create a direct and significant safety risk that cannot be reduced through reasonable measures.

• Is not within JTF Sports’ control.

• Would impose an undue financial or administrative burden under applicable law.

• Conflicts with a legitimate eligibility, certification, insurance, venue, or equipment requirement.

A request will not be denied based on assumptions, stereotypes, or a general diagnosis. Decisions will be based on the person’s needs, the essential nature of the program, available information, and applicable safety requirements.

 

3. Physical Activities and Safety

Some JTF Sports programs involve physical exertion, outdoor conditions, water, animals, vehicles, tools, travel, sports equipment, or other inherent risks.

We will seek to make programs accessible while maintaining legitimate safety standards. Participants remain responsible for:

• Providing accurate information relevant to safe participation.

• Following program and equipment instructions.

• Completing required waivers and emergency forms.

• Using required safety equipment.

• Communicating changes that may materially affect safe participation.

A person will not be excluded solely because of a disability. However, JTF Sports may limit or modify participation when an individualized assessment shows that the person would present a direct threat to health or safety that cannot be reduced through reasonable accommodation.

When full participation is not reasonably possible, we will consider whether a meaningful alternative is available.

4. Service Animals

JTF Sports welcomes service animals as required by applicable law.

A service animal may be restricted from a particular area only when permitted by law, including when the animal is out of control and the handler does not take effective action, is not housebroken, or when the animal’s presence would create a legitimate safety issue or fundamentally alter the activity.

Emotional-support, comfort, and therapy animals do not always have the same legal access rights as trained service animals. Requests involving these animals will be considered under applicable law and the requirements of the specific venue or program.

Program participants are encouraged to notify JTF Sports in advance when a service animal may require logistical coordination involving transportation, lodging, animals, watercraft, equipment, food-service areas, or third-party facilities.

5. Accessible Communications

When needed for effective communication, JTF Sports will consider reasonable auxiliary aids and services based on the circumstances.

These may include:

• Electronic or large-print materials.

• Captions or transcripts.

• Written communication.

• Qualified interpretation services when required.

• Assistance reading or completing a form.

• An accessible alternative to an online-only process.

JTF Sports will not charge a person with a disability a fee solely for an auxiliary aid or accommodation that JTF Sports is legally required to provide.

6. Accessible Events and Partner Facilities

When selecting venues and partners, JTF Sports will consider accessibility factors such as:

• Accessible parking and arrival routes.

• Entrances and interior routes.

• Seating and viewing areas.

• Restrooms.

• Communication access.

• Emergency procedures.

• Accessible equipment or reasonable activity modifications.

• Service-animal access.

• Transportation and lodging arrangements, when provided by JTF Sports.

Not every venue or outdoor location is owned or controlled by JTF Sports. When a barrier is identified at a third-party location, we will work with the venue or partner to seek a reasonable solution or meaningful alternative.

7. Employment and Volunteer Access

JTF Sports does not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities in employment, volunteer, internship, ambassador, or leadership opportunities.

Applicants and team members may request a reasonable accommodation for an application, interview, training, essential responsibility, meeting, or other organizational process.

Information concerning an accommodation request will be handled as privately as reasonably possible and shared only with people who need the information to evaluate or implement the request.

 

8. Feedback and Reporting an Accessibility Barrier

We welcome direct feedback when a website feature, document, registration process, facility, communication, or program creates an accessibility barrier.

Please provide:

• The webpage address or name of the program or document.

• A short description of the problem.

• The assistive technology or device used, if relevant.

• The format or accommodation that would provide access.

• Your contact information if you would like a response.

JTF Sports will review reported barriers and make reasonable efforts to provide an accessible alternative while the issue is evaluated.

9. No Retaliation

JTF Sports prohibits retaliation against any person who:

• Requests an accommodation.

• Reports an accessibility barrier.

• Raises a good-faith concern about disability access.

• Participates in the review of an accessibility complaint.

• Assists another person in requesting access.

Raising a concern will not negatively affect a person’s eligibility for JTF Sports programs, employment, volunteer service, or organizational opportunities.
